This week has been all about building our website ready for launch to the public.
We’ve used WordPress to build the site with the Press Customizr theme. The theme includes the Nimble Builder which can make constructing the site easier. There have been dozens of settings and options which we’ve tweaked. We’re quite impressed with the results so far.
We created the slide show on the homepage from scratch. We used Photoshop to build the mosaic slides from individual examples of our work. Over the coming weeks, we will show you how we did this and many other aspects of building the site.
We have split our site into 3 distinct sections.
- The “Photographers” section concentrates on tutorials, information, articles and guides. This is for anyone interested in selling their own photography. Of course, it’s also for photographers wishing to simply improve their techniques etc.
- The “Image Users” section concentrates on showcasing our work. It also guides potential purchasers of our work.
- The “Weekly News” section concentrates on general information for anyone curious about how John David Photography is progressing.
We’ve spent some time preparing our Facebook Page, Twitter & Instagram with basic settings such as logos etc.
